I intend to provide something more than the following complaints/observations in this month of January. For now, I'll settle for posting the image for the upcoming show with Leralee Whittle and writing a few sentences.
Busy with so many items on the list of things to do. They never all get done, just the ones with high priority. People completely taken up with lists of things to do can still examine their lives. They have to be careful about what makes up the list though. Very easy to go on autopilot and stop thinking much about why these goals and tasks are getting so much attention. Funny how the unexamined list of things to do inevitably winds up serving power-mongering institution(s) and/or other elitist factions. There are so many resources being poured into the effort to control how we think. It's an uphill climb to avoid stumbling mindlessly down the mountain towards normalcy. Being normal sounds alright until you look at it closely and what it might mean. Normal is only good in a healthy society. Looking around, as I have been since my eyes were opened to social ills when I was 13, I can't conclude that our society nurtures the naturally creative spirit and looks out for the needs of everyone. It tilts the supposedly level playing field and fosters irrational behavior to manufacture consent to the abusive policies that largely create, rather than alleviate suffering. Governments, corporations, and churches/synagogues/mosques, etc. all over the world, all throughout history work mostly for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many. The cost is so high as to threaten or extinguish much of life on this planet. Must it stop? Only if we are to ever find truly redeeming value in being human.
